Standing up for others, by standing up for self!

Today I witnessed a young woman stand firm in the face of employer adversity, at first she struggled to see how standing up for herself was the right answer, we discussed what it would take to do what needed to be done, and when you're a teacher you know there are things in life that can't be neglected, like the education of our children, we discussed what it would take to ensure the kids got the attention they needed? We discovered that in order to do what needed to be done we would have to be at 100%, we also discovered in order to be at 100% we would have to rest and allow ourselves to heal. Sometimes in order to stand up for others, we have to first learn to stand up for ourselves, even when that means taking a seat and allowing ourselves to heal.
